Morningside College, founded in 1894, is a private, co-educational institution in Sioux City, Iowa, USA. Lydia Trimble, the founder and first president of Hwa Nan College, graduated from Morningside in 1904. Dr. Ida Belle Lewis and Lucy Wang, the second and third presidents of Hwa Nan College, also graduated from Morningside in 1909 and 1921, respectively.

In May 2008, a cooperative program was established, allowing Hwa Nan graduates to enroll in a specially designed program leading to a BA degree from Morningside College. Since 2009, thirteen Hwa Nan graduates have successfully earned BA degrees at Morningside. Every summer, Hwa Nan Women’s College hosts one Morningside faculty member and two students for a six-week educational exchange. In 2012, Lin Ben Chun, former President of Hwa Nan, visited Morningside College and received an honorary Ph.D. degree.

Hwa Nan Women’s College has a long-standing partnership with Morningside University in the United States, which was revitalized during Hwa Nan’s centennial celebration in 2008. This renewed relationship has led to various exchange programs and collaborative projects. A notable event was the visit of the Morningside Choir to China, where they performed at Hwa Nan, strengthening cultural ties and enriching educational experiences for both institutions. These exchanges have enabled Hwa Nan students to study abroad and bring back valuable insights.
