Since May 28, 2024, the delegation from Hwa Nan Institute has been on a visit to the United States for exchanges.

Our college delegation and North American Alumni Association members had a joyful reunion in New York

On May 28, a delegation from our institute arrived in New York and received a warm welcome from alumni of the North America Alumni Association. The alumni had made thoughtful and meticulous arrangements in advance for the delegation's visit to the U.S., ensuring that each part of the itinerary was accompanied and assisted by alumni.

That evening, everyone gathered to reminisce about their cherished memories of studying at South China, upholding the school’s motto of "Self-improvement, Diligence, Innovation, and Dedication." They shared their experiences of working hard and striving in the U.S., expressed gratitude for the education they received, and contributed suggestions for the future development of their alma mater.

On behalf of the institute, Professor Yu Rongmin, Chairman of the Institute’s Board, presented each alumnus with a special gift, a woolen scarf dyed with natural materials from the school campus, handcrafted by the faculty. He also expressed that the school would further strengthen alumni relations, fully leverage their contributions, and work together to promote the development of Hwa Nan.


Hwa Nan Delegation Visits Florida State University

On the morning of June 3, a delegation from our institute visited Florida State University (FSU). Led by Professor Xie Jiyunhua, the delegation toured the "Retirement Home," where they reminisced about the life and contributions of Dr. David, the liaison for past collaboration projects between our institute and FSU. They also learned about her experiences living in the "Retirement Home" after retirement. Officials from the facility guided the delegation through the senior living arrangements and provided a detailed explanation of its management policies.

On the morning of June 4, the delegation visited the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, where they received a warm welcome from the dean and two associate deans. Both sides introduced the histories of their respective institutions, recalled previous collaboration and exchange programs, and expressed their hopes for future partnership opportunities.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured the FSU campus and took commemorative photos, marking the visit as a meaningful step in strengthening academic and cultural ties between the two colleges.


Hwa Nan Delegation Visits Morningside University to Advance International Cooperation and Exchange Programs

On June 5, under the bright sunshine, a delegation led by Chairman Yu Rongmin visited Morningside University in the United States, accompanied throughout the visit by North America alumna Chen Li. The delegation received a warm welcome from Dr. Albert Mosley, President of Morningside University, along with Dr. Chris Spicer, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Erin Edlund, Director of Admissions and External Relations, and Terri Curry, Special Assistant to the President.

The visit was divided into two phases of cooperation discussions. In the first phase, the delegation and President Mosley reached a consensus on key initiatives, including the "3+1" program for students, doctoral degree advancement for in-service faculty, summer study programs, and faculty exchanges. Both sides acknowledged the historical ties between the two institutions and agreed to strengthen collaboration in multiple formats for mutual development.

In the second phase, the delegation presented an introduction to the institute, showcasing a promotional video and an overview of academic programs to Morningside University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Director of the International Exchange Center. The discussion focused on aligning academic programs, credit transfer policies, study formats, scholarships, and academic research cooperation.

Following the discussions, the delegation toured the Morningside University campus and library, accompanied by the President’s Special Assistant. They also viewed paper-cut portraits of three former presidents of Hwa Nan, preserved in the university’s archives.

During lunch, the delegation met with Morningside University leaders, faculty members involved in the "3+1" and faculty exchange programs, and Chen Li. As an alumna of both institutions, Chen Li shared heartfelt memories of the care and support she received from Morningside faculty during her studies, as well as the transformative impact of the "3+1" program on her life. Her words of gratitude and deep affection for both schools touched everyone present. The leadership of both institutions expressed their hope that the results of these collaborations would be realized by September next year.

As a token of appreciation, Chairman Yu Rongmin presented Morningside University with a cork painting featuring three iconic buildings of South China, symbolizing the institutions' shared history. Each participant involved in the cooperation project also received a scarf dyed using natural elements from the Hwa Nan campus.

Looking ahead, our institute is committed to further strengthening collaboration with Morningside University, fostering a lasting friendship between the two institutions, and cultivating more globally-minded, highly capable talent.


Our Institute's Delegation Visits Puget Sound University, Highlighting the Key Event of the U.S. Visit

From June 7 to 8, our institute's delegation visited Phuket Bay University, where they received a warm welcome from President Isiaah Crawford, Vice President Victor Martin, and Provost Drew Kerkhoff.

During the visit, the delegation reunited on campus with the Trimble Family, President of the North America Alumni Association, Chen Guifang, and Cecilia, a volunteer teacher who will be joining our institute in September. They were also invited to attend the 50th-anniversary celebration of the "Pan-Pacific" program, where they listened to live testimonies from participants. Jonathan, Director of Phuket Bay University's International Programs Office, highly praised the Trimble Family for their contributions to expanding students' international perspectives through overseas study opportunities. He also expressed gratitude for Hwa Nan's support of the program.

Following this, the delegation participated in the 30th-anniversary reunion celebration of the "Hwa Nan-Trimble Teaching Fellow Program." This program has facilitated volunteer teachers from Phuket Bay University to teach at our institute, greatly benefiting English language education and professional development for our students. During the event, President Ren Jianhong delivered a brief speech, emphasizing that this program has been a vital link between Hwa Nan and Phuket Bay University. She expressed deep appreciation for the Trimble Family's long-standing support, the volunteer teachers' dedication, and Phuket Bay University's commitment to international cooperation.

For four generations, the Trimble Family has been dedicated to fostering U.S.-China educational exchanges, playing a crucial role in the internationalization of our institute. This visit marked a significant milestone, deepening mutual understanding and friendship between our institute and its U.S. sister school while laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
